I've had similar ideas before. When I look at it now, we probably should have known the country was gone after the 2018 midterms. So much could have been done, but apparently the people in power then didn't understand the fork we were heading into. Republicans did nothing but fight against Trump. But I don't accept that, and believe they're in on it now. Abolishing hate crime legislation, or affixing some kind of remedial legislation to prevent the abuse that it is, should have been a priority in 2016. I think that, in particular, has set this course.
