The number of flu cases has always been highly over estimated in an effort to pump the need for a flu vaccine.
Just like all the other viruses in the past, covid has pushed out the virus before it by stealing the host with higher contagion and lack of natural immunity within the herd.
I don’t doubt, from a biological aspect, that the flu has been overtaken as the predominant viral infection. Now, we will see the push for yearly boosters for the elderly and covid vaccinations for all children as well.
If you look at history, all the viruses we’ve seen were pushed aside by a newcomer. From Spanish flu to h1n1, we haven’t really made a dent in nature’s ability to find a way.
