Funny enough it was trying to tax more people that lead to Rome's down fall, they allowed anyone to be a citizen of "Rome" to tax them at the much higher Roman rate. All this without any of the pleasures and debauchery that came with actually being a resident of Rome or Constantinople. White invaders from the North were just as much at fault for the Roman downfall as where any other race. Rome grew too big for it's form of government and the strain it put on civilizations far removed from the central governing authority. They relied on the soldiers of foreign lands to secure their borders and on countless occasions had their government overthrown by the personal guards of now dead Emperors at an assassination rate of 3 per year at one point all this many years before the down fall of actual Rome if of course you ignore that you still had the Holy Roman Empire into the middle ages. Before some people, did something on some day to end that as well.🤷♂️
