Had a discussion with a few co-workers the other. A couple of them were getting their shots and recommended others do the same.

My dad went in for his shots and recommended the same. I kinda ignore the topic when it comes up or say I'm in no hurry but he will bring it up several times on a phone call or visit. He was bashing younger people for not getting it and said something like "if this were killing younger people, everyone would be lining up for the vaccine". How do you all respond when pressured by others? I am not an anti vaxxer and think most people who take it will be fine, but like the flu shot, I don't really feel bothered to take it even if the risk of side effects is small.

Why are you talking to your co-workers about this? Keep your personal shit to yourself when at work.

I didn't talk, I just listened. They were jumping on a co-worker who said he wanted to wait 6 months or so. I stayed out of it because I don't talk personal shit at work. No doubt I will be asked at some point though.

Unless your boss is making it mandatory.

He cannot make it mandatory but the company can.

When it comes to family you have to be very careful. Neither of you know anything. You're brainwashed by one form of propaganda and he's brainwashed by the other.

THIS I was getting to the point where my dad and I were having heated arguments over this because of the brainwashing. I got burnt out on the politics and distanced myself from it all. He's retired and often watches the news and is still being brainwashed. I just try to avoid political discussions now. He'll still bring it up from time to time as if he's trying to bait me into an argument.

You can't force him to not take the vaccine and he can't for you to take it.

Maybe it's a good thing, I don't know, I'm not a medical expert. I'm skeptical of pharma in general.

You just tell him "You're protect now."

Good point. Maybe he wanted my praise and congrats, I don't know.

Problem is the propaganda says that since you aren't getting the vaccine you might be a carrier of a mutation that could harm someone even if they have the vaccine.

But then Fauci says he's not sure if the vaccinated can carry the virus asymptomatically. More bullshit conflicting info.

There is no easy response to this and it's best to just let people do what they are going to do.

Yeah. Chances are, most people will be fine either way and it won't really matter as time goes on.

You have to address this by understanding your own personal level of risk.

Right. Everyone is in a different situation. I know one guy who is 60+. His wife works in a hospital and they are around people a lot. I know someone else who works form home and has limited contact with people. There's no one-size-fits-all solution. And others are in between. Do you bet on red or bet on black? It just depends on the situation.

This is too personal to discuss with other people. Nobody knows anything.

Right. I don't know much of anything nor do I pretend. What I do know is this: There is a virus. it's real. And it's overhyped by the media. How much is it overhyped? Who knows. It annoys me when people act like they know everything when they're just regurgitating propaganda.
