As someone who actually develops software for a living. Most are conservative, I suspect a lot of people in silicon Valley are towing the line because they have to to be employed by those companies. In places outside San Fran and other leftist cities, most are not left leaning in my experience
The harder the discipline the more likely the person is to be based.
Notice that the crazy obnoxious women and trannies "in tech" are usually either community managers or frontend devs and the people that write compilers and codecs are usually boring white or asian men? Sure there's exceptions, there are some minimally crazy trannies and very sharp women, but they're never people you hear about for anything but their works.
20 years ago the vast majority of software developers had limited government libertarian leanings.
It came with the territory, if you write software and it does not do exactly what you intended you screwed up and must make the correct adjustment, pretending that the computer is against you and trying to convince everyone that you did it right and is not your fault is not going to work.
