The time may be coming soon in America where the choice to follow Christ will lead to real suffering and persecution. The best way to prepare is to truly follow Christ now.
Just posted a book recommendation "American Pilgrim" by Roosh Validazeh. Terrific story of a genuine return to Christianity detailed over a six month multi state tour in 2019. Very inspirational and brilliantly written.
and worse than all that, tolerant, because we are allowing our faith to be trampled on, and we do not defend it, and that is how Christians will disappear for being very tolerant.
The UN even admitted that of all religions worldwide, Christians are the ones that overwhelmingly suffer the most violent persecution in terms of bodycount.
The real suffering has been limited to outside the United States.
i.e. Churches being bombed across the Middle East, Churches being attacked, taken over, and forcibly converted into Mosques in Europe, Christians being harvested for organs in China for not using the edited anti-religious version of the Bible.
No one in my Church is doing anything about it. They've complied, like sheep, with all the mandates, distancing and closures. Even communion is being handed out in disposable cups while parishioners are lined up in masks. I stopped going to Sunday mass - like about 60% of the church. I instead go during the week, when the church is empty, just to pray the Rosary - to pray that our leadership will find the balls Jesus preached that we acquire - be not afraid. I told my Priest why, he gave me an empty look and shrugged his shoulders. Happy effing palm Sunday.
It's sad, but when God gives you a sign that it's time to move on it's best not to ignore it.
I helped found a church that was part of a larger group of churches. Through COVID they completely abandoned the flock, thinking that online services could replace. One of the founders of the larger church body was even out marching in BLM rallies while the doors were bolted shut. I've gone elsewhere and based on conversations I've had with other members, I was one of the first of a mass exodus of the most dedicated members that have been there since the beginning.
It's times of trials that reveal people's true nature. The only time we ever truly fail is when we despair.
Look up God's message to the seven churches in Revelations. He directly addresses issues that lead churches astray.
Revelations 1-3
Of special note is this:
The Compromising Church
12 “And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write,
‘These things says He who has the sharp two-edged sword: 13 “I know your works, and where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is. And you hold fast to My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days in which Antipas was My faithful martyr, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells. 14 But I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality. 15 Thus you also have those who hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. 16 Repent, or else I will come to you quickly and will fight against them with the sword of My mouth.
17 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it.” ’
I recommend looking up a sermon on the Compromising Church, might help?

Where the hell you at? "Real" suffering and persecution has been happening for a long time now.

Unfortunately, the two are connected.
Is this persecution

Hate to say it might be time to find a new church, but...
Dont hate to say it, its the truth.
I'd try to find out if there's a Latin Mass parish anywhere nearby. You can usually count on those priests to be faithful, reliable, and orthodox.
