Norm, the normie: "Joe Biden's policies are awful. Does he really expect us to believe there's nothing going wrong at the border?"

Pede: "Why are you criticizing Joe Biden? I already know who you are."

"Huh?"

"The only practical reason for criticizing anyone is identifying yourself to like-minded people. You don't really expect to change anyone's mind with that criticism do you?

"Well, no..."

"Of course not. Criticism doesn't work. Unfortunately, if you want to change someone's mind, you have to be a bit dishonest and make them think you agree with them. You have to impersonate a member of their tribe. Then you can highlight the flaws of their ideas by straw-manning yourself. That's how you get people to doubt themselves, which is the first step to changing someone's mind."

"That's kind of messed up, though isn't it?"

"Other people do it to you constantly, you just haven't noticed..."
