Batman's the only superhero I've ever liked because, really, he's just a guy who's sick of the ineffectiveness of his community toward fighting crime and decides to use his riches for the betterment of all without virtue signalling about it.
I also loved Batman Beyond. The futuristic setting of that was fucking awesome.
I actually need to check out The Punisher. I agree with you that I wish Batman was more final in some of his decisions, but I also see him as the sort of idealistic hero vs. what reality would require of a crueler, grimmer sort.

Punisher is a better morality tale. Batman teaches that non-lethal pacifism always fails.
