It is weird, but also understandable considering what happened to everyone else who opposed the FED and big banks throughout history.
Since the protocol is 100% open source it doesn't matter much who the creator is because the trust lies in your ability to verify the code rather than the appearance of a person, it's obviously a pseudonym for one or more people and not that old Japanese guy CNN went after and harassed for days.
Personally I think it's a good thing, imagine if Bitcoin had a front figure, and it comes out that this front figure has certain political views, bam, suddenly those opinions will be associated with Bitcoin, which is absurd but that's what happens in this clown world.
