I'm a libertarian and I sure as hell don't agree with this. As Milton Friedman said, you can have open immigration OR you can have a welfare state, but you cannot have open immigration AND a welfare state.
The libertarian party sold out on borders and immigration policy to try and win votes from idiot democrats (but I repeat myself), they no longer represent real libertarian values.
You have just touched on the root of the problem with libertarianism; it requires complete implementation of libertarian policies across the board in order to succeed. Implementing policies like open immigration without dismantling the welfare state would lead to the disaster we currently see unfolding before us.
Imo another libertarian "blind spot" around immigration is their naive notion that the only magnet is "welfare". That magnet could be totally eliminated and the darker magnets would remain. Like their commie bros, libertarians seem disconnected from the real world; from the REALITY of evil and human nature. Quirks, zanys and contrarians are amusing only when the dummies don't get grifted into splintering the vote cuz muh principles, handing a win to Cult Death Democrats.
