I find it rather weird that people are seemingly fine with how they talk about "lockdowns" … literally a term that came out of prisons … locks … down … as in pulling the lever to lock all the doors into the down, i.e., locked position.

It's always been a penal colony. That mindset never left. Not from what I have seen in my town.
