I think it was tweaked to some degree. The complete loss of taste or smell for 2 full days is something I've never experienced before. And I'm not bullshitting - I couldn't smell a damn thing and everything had zero taste, but I could pick up if it "should" have been salty, sweet, spicy, etc. Other than that, it was the mildest of colds.

That’s not unique. Lots of colds cause loss of smell.
When i was a child, food tasted metallic when I had a cold.
