They aren't wrong. Foods have gotten more processed and HFCS laden in the past 20 years. Pastry cakes, cereals, microwaveables, etc, all more processed. Also factor into this that they're trying to slow the cost increases of inflation, which means more chemicals and less 'food' in the food'. Thats why her hot pockets taste like paper . . . they probably are.
Oh, I'm sure they're right. It's more the fact that, what are they doing eating what is essentially kids food, or literally kids food in the case of cereals?
I also think it has more to do getting older and your body doesn't want garbage like that anymore. I remember about 6 or 7 years ago I bought a box of Reese Puffs because they were on sale, basically for nostalgia; I couldn't finish even a bowl of them, let alone the box. They tasted exactly the same, I'd just outgrown wanting to eat anything like that anymore. Same thing happened with a specific brand of pop you can only get in Eastern Canada; loved it as a kid, can't stomach it anymore.
I have to agree on hot pockets. I quit eating them about 5 years ago. They used to taste good, but they’ve clearly changed the recipe. Nasty now. Or did I just get old?
They changed the formula I think, around the time there were a few listeria/salmonella outbreaks associated with flash frozen foods like this.
It's because you are actually supposed to cook stuff like this to temperature (internal temp 165 degrees for dark meat chicken, for example) but nobody ever does because we are all so fat and lazy and just microwave everything.
Also, how do you even tell if you get food poisoning from a Hot Pocket? It's like "gee this diarrhea is a little more intense than usual, something must be wrong."
There used to be lots of foods that were "bad" for you that tasted almost euphorically wonderful compared to today. Unfortunately, today's "bad" foods taste like shit and are still "bad" for you, just in different ways.
Baby steps, not to be 'that guy' but I was a crap foodaholic for many many years and I'm still healing from my choices. So I'm all for anybody making better decisions for their health. Hopefully they realize what they need to do and actually make wise choices.
Gorilla Glue doesn't taste like it used to either.
It's almost like their bodies are telling them to grow the fuck up and buy some real goddamn food.

This is also true. Kids have a much higher tolerance for sugar, and sugar substitutes, than adults. Applies to various candies as well.

They aren't wrong
They're not wrong. Food has changed over the past 25 years.
Quit your bitching. Cap'n Crunch will still shread the fuck out of the roof of your mouth.
I've cut the inside of my mouth eating Nacho Cheese Doritos more than once.
The moonpie from a vending machine has remanded unchanged for a half century.
Yeah, because it was put in there 50 years ago
Quality meat from the butcher shop and fresh produce from the market still tastes great.
Use a damn stove, learn how to cook real food ya babies!

The Hot Pockets in Wakanda are banging.
Hasn't anyone noticed that ground beef is nearly tasteless now?
Do you use salt when you cook it? That's always been important, unless you want it to taste like you're eating tumors.
Yeah this is beyond using salt and other seasonings (which I always have). The beef has become tasteless is now just a vehicle for seasonings.
There used to be lots of foods that were "bad" for you that tasted almost euphorically wonderful compared to today. Unfortunately, today's "bad" foods taste like shit and are still "bad" for you, just in different ways.
They figured out by adding pure animal drugs in the form of sugar or sugar substitutes they can stop trying as hard
frosted flakes? Who eats shit like that? hot pockets? Make a fucken meal, fool.
They are right though.
