They aren't wrong. Foods have gotten more processed and HFCS laden in the past 20 years. Pastry cakes, cereals, microwaveables, etc, all more processed. Also factor into this that they're trying to slow the cost increases of inflation, which means more chemicals and less 'food' in the food'. Thats why her hot pockets taste like paper . . . they probably are.
Oh, I'm sure they're right. It's more the fact that, what are they doing eating what is essentially kids food, or literally kids food in the case of cereals?
I also think it has more to do getting older and your body doesn't want garbage like that anymore. I remember about 6 or 7 years ago I bought a box of Reese Puffs because they were on sale, basically for nostalgia; I couldn't finish even a bowl of them, let alone the box. They tasted exactly the same, I'd just outgrown wanting to eat anything like that anymore. Same thing happened with a specific brand of pop you can only get in Eastern Canada; loved it as a kid, can't stomach it anymore.

This is also true. Kids have a much higher tolerance for sugar, and sugar substitutes, than adults. Applies to various candies as well.
