If you think that Sidney is doing all this work because of a "hunch", I will disagree totally. She believes that she has the evidence and is working everyday to continue to process more evidence and preparing to go to court when she can. As far as the "kraken" comment, it is a popular line from a few movies, if she meant it "tongue in cheek" way, then she could have done that better.
