The question I would like to see answered about investing in silver and gold (specifically by actually having the physical metal on hand) is this: Sure, you have 100lbs of gold bars, but in a completely destroyed economy where gold has value, how many people will there be to assay the gold? How can you provide proof to people that the gold is 24k, and not 9k? Same with silver.

The people who will make the most money and become the new bankers in a fallen economy are going to be the ones that can reliably, quickly, and securely prove that a given amount of gold or silver assays to the stated purity.

Second crucial point is going to be people who can be trusted to have highly accurate and balanced physical (non-digital/electric) scales.
