Right, the only way I would buy precious metals is from a local gold dealer, and hold them physically. I mean for now my 401k is roaring because I have a pretty aggressive portfolio, but that doesn't mean jack if $1USD = 1 dime in 5 years
Nobody with a brain will trade ammo for anything - too easy to have that ammo eventually sent back to you at high velocity, by people who can take turns while you get too sleep-deprived to fight back.
Let me repeat that: Never, ever, EVER trade ammunition for anything. Ammo is too valuable for that.

Lead will become the most precious of all metals. I actually know of a way to turn lead into gold and silver or whatever supplies you need
