Gender is a linguistic construct. Spanish has two genders: male and female. German has three genders: male, female, and neuter. Dyirbal has four genders: male, female, fruity, and other. English has gendered pronouns, he/she/it, but doesn't conjugate or decline on gender. It's interesting to me how Spanish, the language that actually has grammatical gender, is the language in this country whose speakers reject this sex change nonsense.
