Public perception is very important too. There are a lot of fence-sitters who just have a gut personal dislike for Trump and/or a history of identifying with the Democratic party, who are very unhappy with the "Biden-Harris" administration's performance so far, and very concerned about Biden's obvious dementia. If those people perceive the pro-Trump/MAGA community as potential allies, many of them may jump off the fence into the pro-Trump/MAGA community, and make a big difference in the outcome of the 2022 midterm elections. If they perceive the pro-Trump/MAGA community as mostly a bunch of nutjobs who are quick to believe every wild tale that supports what they want to believe, they'll stay on the fence or sit out the midterm elections.
