Texas' energy market is managed by an agency called ERCOT, which:

  • Was created by the government.
  • Answers to the government.
  • Has its board appointed by the government.
  • Centrally manages Texas' energy market.

Don't let them tell you the Texas 2021 blackout was a failure of the free market.

It was a failure of central management.

The cost to manufacture any one of those wind turbines more than offsets the total energy production. Especially when factoring in disposition costs.

Not to mention they get shut down a lot. Have a few fields of them near me and have a key to access 3 of them. Climb one every chance I get for fun.

Not windy, too windy, too cold, too hot, maintenance required (but not happening), are the reasons that I've seen the blades locked. And the motor just pisses oil. The ladder and walls inside are always coated w what smells like hydraulic fluid.
