I chose Spanish because I thought there’d be more Mexicans in our country than French.

Smart. Simply because it’s the language you will most likely to use. It’s not that difficult to learn and will expand your chances of getting a better job. Even if you hate or disagree with our immigration policies, it’s always good to have needed skills most people don’t have.
