Food pyramid has nothing to do with basic overeating. People get fat becaust they are pigs that's it end of story. Short of extremely rare genetic issues it's always overeating.
People also get fat because of all the shit they put in food now a days, especially vegetable based oils. No one was fat when shit was fried in lard, and people used real butter. I switched to real bitter and cooking lard a year ago and have lost 35 lbs.
Margarine has never passed my lips and I am 72. I knew margarine was a scam when I was a kid. During WWII they gave the soldiers real butter and the civilians margarine. Old folk Neighbors told me when you bought it, it was white and it came with yellow food coloring you had to mix with it.

I save bacon fat for use in cooking later. "Common knowledge" dietary advice is all lies, like most things.
