As an Asian person, I know the answer. Your #1 is closest to the truth, but it's off. There is an epidemic of black-on-Asian and black-on-black and black-on-white etc violence, it's just been going on for decades and was ignored.

COVID-19 has definitely increased his violence, but I think the media exaggerates on how much it increased. That's partially because the media ignored all black-on-asian cases before.

Black-on-Asian violence happened even before I was born. It's just that the media is noticing it more. People destroyed 500 million dollars worth of Korean-owned capital during LA in 1992 based on race. The media justified it by saying that the community was enraged at the trial of a Korean storekeeper who shot a black girl, as if that somehow justifies a racial riot against innocent bystanders.

From my observations -

The elderly? Definitely not. Older Asians are the ones that tell their kids to be careful of black neighborhoods and get accused of racism. They know exactly what's going on.

The youth? It's split. Most people I talk to say that it's bullshit. But there's definitely a large group of vocal young Asian liberals who were marching with BLM and are now blaming white supremacy for all of this. But most people I talk to say that it doesn't make any sense, but they don't speak up because of the backlash.

The vast majority of Black people treat Asian people and White people with respect. It's just a shame when incidents like this happen. It doesn't help when the media fueled flames of racial anger for the past year.

Yes, the black on Asian violence has been going on a long time, even in the 50s. My grandpa was harassed by black neighbors every day when he came home from work until they found out he always carried a gun with him in his truck. They became amazingly polite after that.

You can just say black violence has been going on a long time.

Proximity to blacks = black on _______ violence

America is big. Really, really big. If you are looking hard enough for an example of something you're gonna find it and probably daily.

Of course, but you don’t have to look hard at all for the attacker to be a basketball American, and to pretend otherwise is not only stupid, but deadly, and insidious IMHO.

This is what baffles me, there's something really weird going on, someone is trying to stir the pot and these incidents seem to only be in a few select areas. There were advertisement on tv up before these reports were even coming out much, so it's all really strange.

Is random people getting beat up in the street by thugs relatively equally distributed across the population and the media is only reporting on Asian victims for reasons? Or did all the thugs simultaneously wake up a few weeks ago and decide all the world's problems are due to random Asian people?

I'm thinking it's the first, there seems to be something about NY and DC that encourages thugs to beat up random people, I recall hearing a few months ago that even Rick Moranis got randomly sucker punched by a black guy while walking down the street in NYC.

It's completely non-organic and just another set of talking points being pushed from the top down. My Fortune 500 company is sending emails about it. Instagram sticks a big fat banner about #StopAsianHate at the top of your feed even if you report it to get it removed. It's incredibly easy to spot these propaganda campaigns because they're so fucking ham-fisted.

Actor Rick Moranis violently attacked for being white.

One and three. It's unfortunate that a large proportion of violent crimes are committed by young black men (relative to their population numbers), but it is the truth. Having many fatherless homes and children born out of wedlock does not help the situation as these fatherless children are more likely to have a variety of bad outcomes. I wish I had a solution. Black intellectuals and leaders have tried to point out some of the things that some black community members do to sabotage themselves, but that often leads to that black leader being branded an Uncle Tom. Larry Elder made a great movie called Uncle Tom about this very thing.

Definitely number 1. If you want to show violence towards people, there's one demographic that's happy to provide the supply
