Copyright also benefits Hollywood investors more than anyone involved in the actual production. Who needs a copyright that lasts more than 50 years after the originator's death (yes, that is how long copyright lasts - outliving the original people: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries%27_copyright_lengths). IP is a protection racket.
