This has been going on for sometime

why pay for R&D when you can just get a product and reverse engineer it? This makes it easy to sell it for less than the original manufacturer

of course, not having the overall concept is why their shit falls apart

They can copy at identical quality, but since they aren't offering warranties they typically cheap out all over the place. Protection circuits? Unnecessary, it 'should' work fine without them. High-quality reinforced plastic? Cheap plastic looks the same, who cares if it breaks in a few months. High-tolerance machining? We can save $2 per part if we switch to a shitty cast part, who cares if it breaks when you drop it.

that's what I am saying

"This part unnecessary. Why pay 200Y? Reave it out"

And so you get this:

That makes this bit at the end of the article even more confusing:

Going forward, Zang said the CCP is focused on encouraging citizens to develop native technology through the slogan “innovation is the top driver for production.” The slogan has been repeated by Chinese Leader Xi Jinping since 2015, as he aims to shift the country to focus on domestic innovation.

How are they going to innovate anything when they have so little experience with research and development? (Does the number of Chinese nationals who come to America for higher education have anything to do with it?)
