A lot of people go to pick up women

78
FuckGovernment 78 points ago +80 / -2

Almost all the women in churches I go to are already married.

Perhaps a good place to meet women if you are a teenager or very young adult.

It's hard to meet single women in their late 20's or 30's in church. All the good ones get scooped up and married quickly, as you'd expect.

This isn't 40 years ago; things have drastically changed.

8
icockmyglock 8 points ago +12 / -4

I'm not sure what this is supposed to accomplish. You have a better chance of finding a moral woman in a church then almost anywhere else. The fact that the world has change does little to change the benefits of a church for finding a mate because it's still true.

If you don't pair bond in your teens and early 20's your chances of finding an ideal mate diminish significantly. After 40 they nose dose. The best advice you can follow if you want a mate is to ignore the extraneous bullshit in popular culture that works tirelessly to discourage you and get to it. Church based volunteer work is where you should focus your efforts if you want a virtuous Christian woman. When you're not at church work on your job, your education and your health. As much as we would like to believe that women are the homemakers it is the men who are responsible for creating for themselves an image that is attractive to a woman who wants to find a partner to raise kids with. That means good health, good job, good home, good personality. If you have all 4 of those 99% of your work is done. You don't have to be a GQ model, whatever that means these days, but you do have demonstrate you can meet the basic needs of a family minded woman.

This isn't 60 years ago when women still required permission from their husbands to get a job or loans or whatever. They are free to be independent of men and that means men have to work harder than ever before.

StarsStripesandGrit 26 points ago +26 / -0

Nah, middle age single women go to church too man.

I knew lots of singles. Almost every town has a church with a singles group. These guys don't go to very many churches apparently.

7

When? Where? I've been to many churches throughout Central Florida, and the one demographic you won't find is single, childless females under 40. Maybe in 1988, but not now.

Not Mormon, but when I lived in Utah, most single dudes would all say and do the same thing - head for "Singles Ward."

Full of women who only want one thing out of you (a temple wedding, methinks.)

Being Roman Catholic, we have no real equivalent, but if you get involved with parish life enough (and if it's a traditional parish), you tend to find out pretty quickly who is single, looking, and from there the matchmaking almost happens organically.

Alot of pastors go to pick up children.

I think we should take a page out of the Amish book here, and have congregations meet at a different members house every Sunday.

Reminds us to keep our house/property presentable and keeps sickos from being able to groom children. And psychos from shooting the church up.

10
Bullet_Tooth_Tony 10 points ago +10 / -0

7
GODwins76 7 points ago +7 / -0

I stopped going to any place that shut down because they fear government and a china virus over God. They are a terrible witness to the rights and freedoms that we wholesomely value bestowed by our Creator! AMERICA! FUCK YEAH!

4
Saltyminer11 4 points ago +4 / -0

Beware of a church that operates out of fear. The Holy Spirit is absent.

7
Libertas_Vel_Mors 7 points ago +7 / -0

Yep - we got pretty creative about how we met up, and our based priest found ways of getting around the diocese restrictions (didn't they tell you? We all required Last Rites, long-form with both Liturgies, because of the 'coof you know. Just so happens that it's needed every Sunday, and for a group of us).

He said (paraphrased) that they never stopped saying Mass during the Black Death, so why stop doing it now?

You ever get a preacher/priest/rabbi like that, you treasure the hell out of him.

4
Changed777 4 points ago +4 / -0

That's my church and no one wears masks. The pastor is 100% based. What matters in a church is if people care about knowing Christ and walking with Him vs going to church for ANY other reason. The problems that happen happen when people don't follow God. Which happens to be a decent amount of ppl in churches. You'd think people in church would be there because they care about God, but the truth is many use church.... To find a spouse, to get points with God, for a social life. Anything but God.

3
AmericanPatriot6f0 3 points ago +3 / -0

My church went online when the virus was new and no one knew about the risks, but as soon as step clubs and bars were deemed “essential services”, the pastors knew what was up.

29
KlunniClowns 29 points ago +29 / -0

They sure did. They closed at the most important time in my adult life, excluding 9-11.

When the church could have been ready to receive the fearful and vulnerable, they shut down and became the worst witness to the power of gospel!

It's an indictment and a judgment.

35
pray4peace4 35 points ago +35 / -0

One church in my city determined to stay open. They've been fined over $2 million, but they refuse to shut down. Their attendance has grown over 400% & the pastor told people to carpool or find some other mode of transportation because there isn't enough parking. They won 2 lawsuits against the local Health Department, both of which ended up in the Supreme Court.

5
HeavyMetalPatriot 5 points ago +5 / -0

Awesome! The only religious places I know that stayed open during the shamdemic were the Orthodox synagogues and Muslim mosques. Every Christian and Catholic church shut down and went "virtual"

14
peterthegreen 14 points ago +14 / -0

Amen (and not 'awomen'🙄). In the past, Christian missionaries would risk martyrdom by preaching in hostile lands and leper colonies. Instead, a few days ago, a pastor called police to protect his church business by threatening to arrest those who refuse to wear the almighty mask. 🤬https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2021/03/unreal-pregnant-catholic-woman-arrested-holy-mass-not-wearing-mask-ratted-pastor-video/

I get mad at my church because they still distance and support masks.

I want to stand on a pew and scream at the flock. “Who is in here, afraid to die?!?”

I get the feeling the pressure is from older members. They are scared.

I'm a Catholic and I love the history of our great Church and just the overall traditional atmosphere. Sadly these days our Church has been corrupted by cultural Marxists. I don't ever want to leave our great Church but these days I really just want to find a good conservative Priest who speaks up against the bullshit in this world

17
M_A_G_A_2020 17 points ago +22 / -5

Go find yourself a traditional latin mass church my friend. I know it's a point of controversy because of the sh%& hitting the fan in the Vatican but look up groups who make a mission of resisting the wokeness bs and maintaining tradition, such as the SSPX.

12
left_reddit_for_this 12 points ago +13 / -1

Those traditional Latin churches makes a lot of money settling illegals and refugees for our government. They are just as bad as all the rest. Fake and woke.

4
Libertas_Vel_Mors 4 points ago +4 / -0

SSPX is mostly European (with not much a presence in the US). As long as you avoid the Jesuits (a.g. anyone with "SJ" as their title), you're generally fine.

Hang out with and around places online like The Remnant, Sensus Fidelum, wtprs.com (Fr. Zuhlsdorf's blog), and suchlike. You'll be amazed how quickly you can hook up with actual traditionalists.

2
NoCoupForYou 2 points ago +2 / -0

SSPX just got busted in a big scandal where a teacher was a huge child molester.

Ignatian Groups are the biggest helpers of illegals, they pay for everything from transportation to food for migrants through Mexico to the USA from Central America.

The number of Bishop Sheens is declining rapidly.

Look for an FSSP, ICK, or SSPX parish. They celebrate the Traditional Latin Mass according to the 1962 Missal and all the priests are based.

Gonna echo other folks - find a traditional/orthodox Catholic parishes and priests. FSSP, ICKSP, etc. Eastern Catholic parishes and priests are also good. They're legit and based. Unfortunately mainstream Catholicism (some folks call it the Novus Ordo Church) is cucked out. Check out Church Militant, Taylor Marshall, Tim Gordon, Regina Magazine, OnePeterFive, just to name a few.

Oh, check out Abp Vigano. He is a yuge trump supporter.

I'm a Catholic and I'm struggling too - I need to go to Confession real bad. Unfortunately my blood pressure goes up whenever I see a bishop, and I unfortunately assume a priest/bishop is a fag and/or a heretic until I get to know them. I know it's wrong and uncharitable, but alas I am a wounded mortal.

4
WU_HAN_FRU 4 points ago +4 / -0

That's what I want to do, but it's a looooong drive.

3
TrumpSavedWesternCiv 3 points ago +3 / -0

I know people who drive an hour and a half to go to their parishes. Worth it if you are worried about keeping the faith alive in your family. Although I am extremely lucky and grateful to have 5 TLM parishes within an hour (one of them, my home parish, is only 12 minutes away). There are even some non-TLM parishes that offer the TLM occasionally, such as first Saturdays.

Maybe try finding a new priest nearby that is only within a few years of being ordained. It is my experience that they tend to be much more conservative than the older priests and many are passionate about the TLM, even if they aren't able to celebrate it regularly. Most of the young leftists have already left the Church, leaving a smaller but more devout young Catholic population.

Edit: Changed number of parishes from 4 to 5. I forgot about a new one that opened recently.

1
WU_HAN_FRU 1 point ago +1 / -0

Is the new influx of faithful priests due to BXVI’s seminary reforms? Or did I dream that?

2
HeavyMetalPatriot 2 points ago +3 / -1

My mother enjoys the Loretto Abbey mass online. She taught Sunday school and Catholic 2nd grade for 30 years, and she can't stomach what's happened to the Catholic church in her lifetime. She feels the Loretto mass feels like a throwback to the 1970s. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCi6JtCVy4XKu4BSG-AE2chg

Spend a couple months church hopping.

Make a list of all the churches nearby and convenient to where you live.

Then filter them. Spend a couple months visiting a different one each weekend. Go to the evening bible studies and fellowship dinners to really get to know the congregation better.

I think finding a good church is really important for a married family with children. That extra network of support becomes an extended family you can rely on. It's much easier to trust doctors, lawyers, contractors, and people who go to the same church as you do. It becomes a community and extended family.

MAGAforDAYZ 11 points ago +16 / -5

How can Catholics be based when their leader is this pope?

10
tashnag_01 10 points ago +20 / -10

Our leader is Jesus Christ, second person of the Holy Trinity, Son of God.

If you think that the Pope is the leader of Catholics, then you need to read more.

13
MAGAforDAYZ 13 points ago +13 / -0

Of course Jesus is the leader. But the Pope is the leadership of the Catholic Church on Earth. The amount of corruption going on in the Catholic Church is not something I want to be a part of.... because the "leadership" or whatever we want to call our pope, bishops and priests are corrupt and the pope is now condoning abortion, something Jesus Christ would never support.

3

If your best friend lives next door, and he leaves his house to go away for 6 months, and his daughter takes over the house, and throws her dog's shit in your yard and tears up his house. Do you stop talking to your best friend? Worse than that- do you say "Screw it" and move away? Or, do you call your friend and let him know what his daughter is doing to his house and your lawn?

Where else would we go, Lord? You have the words of everlasting life.

10
peterthegreen 10 points ago +10 / -0

Not to mention that Bergoglio, the man who calls himself 'Francis', is not the pope. Pope Benedict XVI, forced into exile by the globalists and Deep Church, is still very much alive and well. In 2012, the year before Bergoglio was installed, John Podesta (yes, THAT John Podesta) was scheming to instigate a 'Catholic Spring' within the Catholic Church per emails obtained by Wikileaks: https://townhall.com/tipsheet/christinerousselle/2016/10/12/leaked-podesta-emails-show-an-attempt-to-spark-a-catholic-spring-uprising-n2231244

Like now, as in the time of the apostles, some of the new churches were making mistakes and incorporating the surrounding pagan culture into their teachings. That’s what so many of Paul’s letters in the books of the New Testament were written to rectify. It is history that is being repeated right now. The Bible based churches should understand this, and many do. Many of the denominational churches have fallen to the propaganda, perhaps even from a takeover of the seminaries that teach the priests. Others have pastors who are too caught up in this worlds culture, who are virtue signaling in an effort to be relatable and increase their congregations, not understanding what the news and the media influencers are preaching is not what their congregations really want. So people are leaving. Unlike what so many in this thread are saying, God’s houses have NOT fallen, not those that were strong to begin with. The false will destruct, but that leaves those that walk with God. Make an effort to find a church that preaches the Bible. There is one near you, but it may not be the denomination or non-denomination you were expecting. But the church for you, that walks in Gods footsteps, is waiting for you.

I'll continue worshipping Jesus in my way without relying on some fallible middleman of a perverse, corrupt religion to speak on my behalf.

The Devil had a personal relationship with God, so did Judas. And so apparenty do you. So what? None of the above are saved or Christian.

4
sordfysh 4 points ago +4 / -0

No. The Devil and Judas had knowledge of God.

The Devil betrayed God in a particularly bad way which severed their relationship.

It's unclear whether Judas had a relationship with God, but it sounds like he didn't. It sounds like Judas really struggled to understand who Jesus was.

If you know God and seek God through the Bible, then you have a relationship with him. Generally that means you're saved.

3

1

Yep you really don't learn anything about Christianity in churches anymore, even before all this started you got a bunch of water down nonsense, the pastor would open his Bible and read the good parts of it, you never actually learned anything about Christianity, you just learned a bunch of nice proverbs that meant nothing without the proper context.

27
theblackprince 27 points ago +33 / -6

It's why many from the millennial and younger gens aren't religious. What was offered wasn't captivating. This is unfortunate because the Bible is captivating, but it takes some thoughtfulness to unfold the treasures within. Muh evolution tho.

21
Ponzo 21 points ago +21 / -0

Also because of years of TV-preacher justifying private jets to be "closer to god" and getting arrested for using church money to buy mansions. People like that make a farce out of religion.

Same goes for the catholic church. The pope is nothing more than a glorified mother in law giving his useless shitty opinion on every topic without providing a solution.

So kids turned to the much "cooler" science instead but overshot the target and now live in pseudo-science world where men menstruate and can give birth.

9

We had a generation of Jesus freaks after 9/11. Some grew to know a true God, others trusted a bunch of people who used morality (theirs) to justify everything including foreign wars. No one questioned their charisma and they even got people to want to believe some of the most outlandish things. Like Moses and Jesus were actually validated by archeology thus making the entire fantasy 'real.'

16
DiscoverAFire 16 points ago +16 / -0

Our church was good about this. Dive into the latin, hebrew, greek, aramaic. Talk about classic theologians and answer the hard philosophical questions.... it was what kept me engaged and learning about my faith. But they've taken a turn for the woke recently.

10
JuanTitor 10 points ago +12 / -2

What I believe is the largest church in Southern California shut down (might be open now), but it was a feel good no substance place (pastor wrote a bunch off feel good books).

Another church in their area, one that teaches through the Bible book at a time, started doing services in a mall parking lot (in addition to their normal service at their building) that mostly drew in people who used to go to the huge church.

I heard from staff pastors from the smaller church that those from the huge church were blown away, people weeping, because they had never heard the Bible taught.

The shut down has been a sifting: the fakes in good churches left, and the genuine in weak churches have left for good churches. There are less overall, but who is left are stronger.

6
BasedNtruth 6 points ago +6 / -0

The SoCal mega churches are a travesty, they’re basically few good pop shows. Completely watered down “Christianity”

2
JuanTitor 2 points ago +2 / -0

I do know some large churches that I believe are good -- a large gathering of people isn't always bad -- but once they add satellite campuses they have jumped the shark.

I think some forget that when the orthodox churches started their style of service, it was a pop show of sorts. The decorations and costumes were extravagant for the time, something you couldn't see anywhere else, and any music in that day and age was valued. That didn't mean the message was bad, but what is now tradition was once cutting edge; the Bible doesn't tell of Jesus, Peter, or Paul putting on their holy robes and burning incense.

In the past few hundred years too, skillful organ music and a beautiful stained glass window would draw some in more than anything pertaining to God. Again, that doesn't condemn the message being taught -- that stands or falls on its own -- but the church in Ephesus didn't have stained glass, and the church in Antioch wasn't famous for their wonderful organ music.

Unfortunately, some pastors have jumped on the Democrat fascism bandwagon. It's disgusting.

18
JuanTitor 18 points ago +19 / -1

The fundamentals of the Bible have long been unpopular, so many sold out long ago. The Bible, for instance, is very clear that a woman is not to be a pastor/deacon; this clear directive has been very unpopular for decades in many churches.

Paul even gives the reason plain: "For Adam was formed first, then Eve; and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor." (1 Timothy 2:13-14)

And we see, those churches that have rejected this have indeed been deceived, and many have themselves become deceivers.

20
RonPaulPatriot 20 points ago +23 / -3

Controversial opinion here, but I don’t believe women make good leaders. They excel over men in other areas, but as for leadership, they just don’t get the job done.

Women are natural followers. Even the so called “independent and ‘need no man’ women despise an indecisive and passive man. Wether it’s the bedroom or making life decisions, women respect a man that can take charge, protect, and be competent in life situations.

Just my opinion.

12
BasedNtruth 12 points ago +13 / -1

I believe this to be fact, and it shouldn’t be controversial. We can see globalists have pushed thousands of women into leadership positions for a reason, are we now weaker or stronger than 6 decades ago? Pretty clear

4
RonPaulPatriot 4 points ago +5 / -1

I agree that it is insidious and intentional.

Destabilization is crucial for control

4
NoCoupForYou 4 points ago +4 / -0

Women are natural negotiators for peace and harmony, trying to keep everybody happy. While some women can be real tough cookies, they are generally more tempted then men to bend the rules to keep things civil and nice and tolerant and happy.

However, seeing the recent theology grads, it's stunning with how many weak men become pastors. Esp. the Youth Pastors, most of whom are at least borderline malakoi.

4
tashnag_01 4 points ago +5 / -1

It's controversial because it's true.

2
VeryRarePepe 2 points ago +2 / -0

6
VeryRarePepe 6 points ago +6 / -0

5
JuanTitor 5 points ago +5 / -0

Yeah, different isn't lesser, it just is different.

I think some people get the wrong idea because they have had bad bosses and bad leaders, who rather than lead from the front with service and sacrifice, boss others around in an unloving and unproductive way.

17
brokemyknife 17 points ago +18 / -1

Yep, my parents went through 4 churches in 10 years because each one eventually pissed them off

9
10MeV 9 points ago +9 / -0

Sigh... we're now on our 3rd in 6 years, and feeling rather discontent again.

Every time we've left it has been due to the new-age influences infiltrating, happy-clappy music, Jesus is your big bro, Jesus wants you to be the best you that you can be. Prosperity gospel, navel-gazing to identify past hurts, and on, and on. Hillsong, Bethel, music/lyrics glorifying the self.

Nothing about sin, repentance, justification, atonement, the elements of the actual gospel. Christian churches are trying to be self-help social clubs with smoke, lasers, and emotionally manipulative music.

I can see why people are leaving them. What's the point of even going? There's no real message anymore.

2
krzyzowiec 2 points ago +2 / -0

Notice also that there is a push to accept bad behavior. Things like "Jesus loves you no matter what" as though we are not supposed to repent and overcome our flaws. God wants us to be perfect, it's in the Bible. So much has been twisted that I believe people leaving church is a good thing.

22
South_Florida_Guy 22 points ago +23 / -1

I think there is a segment of casual/bubble people who, when they can't physically attend on a regular/ normal schedule or experience, they just kind of go "meh" after awhile and just lose interest in doing so and I think closing churches and banning gatherings was part of the plan to take advantage of that. Not to mention, obviously, preventing people from communicating amongst themselves and having to rely on the state run media for all information.

6
RedPillMakesEmSqueal 6 points ago +6 / -0

This. It is very easy to get out of the habit and then eventually you figure Sunday will just be gun day. No telling how many good folks have fallen out and probably will not get back in. And with this scuffed ass society with hope dwindling they will see no reason to waste time going back when God has pretty much judged us already.

4
ChoirOfAngles 4 points ago +5 / -1

Definitely this.

People who only went to sermons and didnt get involved in small groups and things like that, tended to lose interest rather quickly from my experience. At the same time, finding a small group that doesn't meet online is a pain in the ass.

5
Examiner1776 5 points ago +6 / -1

Not always, some churches require membership classes, have formal membership certificates etc.

It depends how this particular poll defines "membership"

3
DeplorableCentipede 3 points ago +3 / -0

Almost all polls rely on self-identification. If you say you're a member of a church, they will record you as being a member of a church.

1
GODwins76 1 point ago +1 / -0

I volunteered with a church for years, they had me put some proposals together and pray on them and they told me they would do the same. I called after sending them, they said they were all denied because their was no records of me ever being a paid-up and trained member. I asked if they even prayed about the proposals like they said and they said they did not. I had to walk away from the new leadership because I had a poor spirit about volunteering and I refused to comply with their new policies that they purposefully set up around me to see if I'd change for them (one psychopath).

As it is written: ‘None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. - Romans 3:10–11

Sounds like you think all Christians are a bunch of holiness virtue signalers based on experience. Going to church alone is not a token of righteousness. Just like posting on TD doesn't make you a patriot.

4

1
pushbackv2 1 point ago +5 / -4

You pulled the words wholesome and righteous out of thin air. I don't think OP or anyone else was making that claim and I'm not arguing with you that church doesn't make people righteous.

6
M16A4 6 points ago +8 / -2

Church attendance or religious subscription has absolutely no bearing on most people's morale compass is my point.

OP saying church attendance isn't good for society or country is ridiculous lol

3
pushbackv2 3 points ago +3 / -0

Fair enough, I'll agree with you on that. It seems like needless hand wringing.

4
Ben45 4 points ago +4 / -0

I imagine the OP's point doesn't stem from church attendance itself. Since less people are going to church, it would follow that less people are religious, and that would be bad.

Of course we have no idea how true that is (people being less religious), especially since surveys are often very flawed or not comprehensive enough to give an accurate idea of reality.

Look for an old-fashioned, traditional church that sings hymns and has tasteful architecture. It's important to have a community of believers in your life to help when you need it. Doctrine is most important, obviously, but you get what I mean. I grew up in contemporary non-denominational churches, but they seem to be the main culprits for megachurch rock shows, topical baby food preaching, and in a lot of cases the Prosperity Gospel. I recommend (but your choice) PCA Presbyterian and not PCUSA. We left a PCUSA church 2 years ago for going woke, but the PCA is more conservative and fighting the culture war.

2

2
WhiskeyDreams 2 points ago +2 / -0

My family is looking to find a church to start attending. Any advice?

8
Dathurtz 8 points ago +9 / -1

All churches are full of deeply flawed people. You won't find one that isn't.

I became a Christian in my early twenties and began looking for a church, which was difficult because there were so many churches around me (Bible-belt) and my immaturity in the faith meant I was quite uncertain how to proceed. I settled on an ARP church in my area and could not have been luckier in my choice. Maybe try a NAPARC church in your area.

My advice:

  1. Find a church that unapologetically teaches the Faith using the Bible. Even if you have some points of disagreement, it is refreshing and comforting to be with those who share the same rule of faith and life as you and with whom you have a common reference. Look up Erik Thoennes for levels of doctrine.

  2. Any worship service should make you feel the weight of you sin, and the weightlessness of its forgiveness.

  3. The pastor shouldn't be richer than most of the families.

  4. The church has to be small enough that everybody knows everybody. If thousands of people go to a church, then it isn't a church.

  5. When people disagree, it is the cultural norm to do so respectfully and lovingly. This, more than anything else, shows the character of the church.

There is so much more, but I think that will do. I know my church has been necessary for the growth of my family and for my own life. I hope you find one that can do the same for you.

I am an atheist, and same here- or rather I am concerned we do not have an alternative carrier for western values as people leave the church.

Civic nationalism in public school has long been abandoned, the church is dying (Their own fault), and no western cultural leaders exist that appeal to the young.

The majority of atheists have proven themselves too stupid to both be atheist, and not immediately replace religious doctrine with the equally dogmatic doctrine of the first culturally marxist organization they find that agrees with them that god is a lie.

... I mean I guess we have Jordan Peterson and Prager U lol

I think we all need to dig deep into the occult / psychedelics / shamanism to get to the good stuff that is missing in western Christianity.

We are visiting a new church on Easter and haven't been in a long time. My issue is that I grew up Methodist and the church body is unrecognizable now. I refuse to pretend to tolerate or overlook in anymore. We have a sizable Four Square church in our area and I looked at their website out of curiosity and it has a section for white supremacy and racism, so that's an automatic no for me.

I didn't leave the church, the church left me.

I work at a church in an admin position (LCMS Lutheran). Most in the church community are aware of this decline which has been going on since the 90s. The church I work at peaked (as far as attendance) in the early 2000s, plateaued for a while, and then started to decline about 10 years ago. We have lost about 50% of our people in the past 8 years. (Various factors involved including people just moving out of state because our state sucks, etc).

Fortunately the LCMS has remained unwoke and Bible-based. And, horrors, we don't allow female pastors.

Unfortunately, in my opinion, the downside of remaining unwoke is that the church is stuck in the past in other areas. I'm talking about the homemade newsletters with clipart from the 80s, outdated buildings with mismatched decor (because somebody donated it so we have to keep it there forever!), and a general attitude of cliques and "we've always done it this way so it can't be changed" even when there is no Biblical reason. This can be a turnoff to younger people if they weren't raised in an LCMS church, and a new modern church with a coffee shop inside is much more welcoming, even if their teaching is somewhat off....

Many churches don't realize (or want to admit) they have a problem until they look around and only the gray-hairs are left, and by then it's probably too late...

2
yurimodin 2 points ago +2 / -0

straight truths here....

2
GODwins76 2 points ago +2 / -0

Then they close, then a super woke progressive buys the building and flsuhing everything down the drain, rinse and repeat. I almost bought a run down church building to convert into a large home where it wouldn't be so hard to open one side for all the guests and attendees. I wouldn't feel bad opening my home so much if it were bigger and spaced adequately for so many people. I still might do it one day and open some chaplancy offices and network with ministers in the area if God calls me to it.

It’s clear here in Michigan that denying people to meet at church was to make it a habit to not attend. Can’t be having conservative men meet and talk. However, on the other hand, I’ve seen the Romans 13 teaching of obey every authority have a devastating effect on our ability to respond to tyranny.

9
Fluffy_Indigo 9 points ago +9 / -0

Most people are conditioned at their jobs to obey authority. IMO corporate life has done more to cut the balls off of people and make them obedient slaves that can't fight back more than anything else over the last 80 years.

Moral decline and churchgoing aren’t necessarily related. Fact is, the church lost its way and became unfavorable to many people despite their high moral aptitude.

The degradation we see today stems from too much diversity and an unwillingness to stand up to political correctness. It has paved the way for an “all is good” attitude where dissenters are brow beaten into the shadows.

We will never go back to a time where blind faith is enough to scare people into submission. The depths of hell aren’t a dissuader and there are so many value sets that it’s impossible to find cohesion through religion.

maybe churches should think more about what their message is - too many are just about tithes and that really turns people off (especially since that's not even a new testament thing - I guess people don't want to be told they should just be good people and that being nice to each other is what Jesus really wanted. The message of - do whatever you want, you are forgiven and will get to go to heaven anyways is pretty awful imo.

4
Ebbie8708 4 points ago +4 / -0

I think the biggest L (as the youth people say) is allowing the left to take over the fact that homosexuality is a sin.

They have spun it to be “look how evil and how much they hate you for being gay!!”

No. The Bible says that all men sin and that no one is too far into sinning that they cannot repent and be forgiven.

-1
MasklessMarvel -1 points ago +3 / -4

but...that's what the bible says

except for the heaven part. it does not say people go to heaven

1
magaspif 1 point ago +2 / -1

go forth and sin no more. also treat your body like a temple. even thinking a bad thought is a sin. they just don't try to really enforce that you should TRY to live like Jesus (ie perfect) even in mind, but also body. they preach that you have to do a thing (believe something) to be "saved"... it's all bullshit. the message is: BE A GOOD PERSON - and that's really all it is. Being good is it's own reward and makes your life wonderful.

0
ImFinallyNotAnAlt 0 points ago +1 / -1

Not true man. You cannot “be good” and enter the kingdom of heaven.

“as it is written, “T HERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE; T HERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, T HERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD; A LL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS; T HERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD, T HERE IS NOT EVEN ONE.” “T HEIR THROAT IS AN OPEN GRAVE, W ITH THEIR TONGUES THEY KEEP DECEIVING,” “T HE POISON OF ASPS IS UNDER THEIR LIPS ”; “W HOSE MOUTH IS FULL OF CURSING AND BITTERNESS ”; “T HEIR FEET ARE SWIFT TO SHED BLOOD, D ESTRUCTION AND MISERY ARE IN THEIR PATHS, A ND THE PATH OF PEACE THEY HAVE NOT KNOWN.” “T HERE IS NO FEAR OF GOD BEFORE THEIR EYES.” Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be closed and all the world may become accountable to God; because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:10-20‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

1
magaspif 1 point ago +1 / -0

Try reading a proper translation and read what Jesus teaches in the gospels. You are to try to be good. Your quotes are the same garbage that snake oil salesmen (preachers) use to get people to obey them (men) instead of living a righteous life. Christ did away with the "law" as you say it, that is the whole point of it. Read the beatitudes for a better understanding.

0
ImFinallyNotAnAlt 0 points ago +1 / -1

Want me to post the translation in KJV? How about Greek? Maybe this particular scripture was found in the Dead Sea scrolls, would that be more fitting? My quotes are directly from the Bible dude, dunno where you find your snake oil salesman that sell by using scripture, especially when scripture gets Christians in trouble with the world.

My point is you cannot be righteous when you have sinned against a holy God. You can repent and turn from sin, but you are incapable of being righteous apart from Christ’s righteousness given to you when you accept what he did for you on the cross.

1
magaspif 1 point ago +1 / -0

You are making a specious argument. The point is not to think or expect to be perfect but to strive towards that.

People like you are the reason christianity is failing to reach people - you fail to understand the basic concepts of the teachings. People make fun of christians because they are fake as fuck - thinking that all they have to do is go to church and pay tithes and that believing something is what "saves you".

You've turned "the way" into a corrupt and heretical abomination.

0
ImFinallyNotAnAlt 0 points ago +1 / -1

The gospel is the only way to reach people. I know you already know what I believe since you’ve laid it out so clearly based on our past couple of interactions but if you’ll humor me for a moment maybe I’ll surprise you 😂

Every man has sinned and fallen short of the glory of a holy and just (<-key word) God. His justice must be satisfied

The wages of sin is death, eternal damnation

You cannot work to pay off your debt. You cannot earn salvation, nor would you be good enough to keep it

Christ, knowing you couldn’t, came to the earth in a human body and lived the perfect life. He took your sins to that cross and suffered God’s wrath on your behalf, paid off, you are free of guilt if you will simply believe what he did for you on the cross. If you reject this gift you are trampling his gift underfoot.

Repent and believe man, that’s what I believe.

2

I agree. I have two super close friends that are hardcore, old line Catholics and any time I mention ol' Papa Frankie and his related shenanigans, they get really quiet and will not offer much comment other than something like "Oh yeah, that guy..." or "I miss Benedictine..." Catholics are taught to see their church as the one true church and all others are just off shoots or cults. Now that their 'one true church' is being operated by what seems like a cult, they're embarrassed to even talk about it. This comment section is filled with edge lord fags saying "Every church is woke now and I don't have to go to church to be a Christian, so NYAH!!" Obviously there are PLENTY of churches that aren't woke in the least so it's a bit of a cop out (and the bible does say to meet and congregate as a church and hold each other accountable so saying it isn't required is another cop out), but I can't deny that the woke thing has infiltrated a large section of the non-Catholic churches as well. If we're willing to fight back for the country, we should be willing to do so for our churches too. Refusing to go anymore isn't going to stop the infiltration that is ongoing.

Did anyone tell you you don’t have to? Theres a harsh side and a good side to the gospel, hence its meaning, “good news”.

Bad news: All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. The wages of sin is death in hell.

Good news: Christ took your wages to the cross to satisfy God’s demand for justice if you will simply repent and believe in him as your atonement. Christ suffered God’s wrath so you do not have to; a holy, innocent, just man, God in the flesh, who for the joy before him took on this task.

You merely accept his propitiation for your sins on your behalf.

This isn’t a one time deal, where one accepts and moves on however. If you find you can accept this and nothing changes in your life, beware.

Church is not necessary to be God fearing. I was raised catholic, went to catholic school and did everything I should have but I lost faith in the church, not my God. Gling to a building does not make you better or worse tha. Anyone else. Its how you live your life, its how you treat others, its how you show love and compassion. It's not which building you decide to kneel in.

2
skyehye808 2 points ago +2 / -0

I feel the same way born and raised catholic went to catholic schools all my life and realized as I got older how corrupt the church is. It was hard for me because I only had fond memories as a child. The services, holidays and holy days brought our community together and a place to see neighbors you wouldnt interact with during the week. But I started reading horrible things and hoped the church would clean out the evil but unfortunately just coverups and corruption. So I started reading the bible more seriously and often on my own, and realized church and a relationship with God needs to start inside yourself and manifest outward in your life. Im not surprised that people are leaving. (Matthew 23) It doesnt mean there are less Christians, it means the Holy Spirit is guiding and showing more of us the hypocrisy and evil of a lot of these churches who are misleading their congregation and Im thankful for that.
