Bad news:
All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. The wages of sin is death in hell.
Good news: Christ took your wages to the cross to satisfy God’s demand for justice if you will simply repent and believe in him as your atonement. Christ suffered God’s wrath so you do not have to; a holy, innocent, just man, God in the flesh, who for the joy before him took on this task.
You merely accept his propitiation for your sins on your behalf.
This isn’t a one time deal, where one accepts and moves on however. If you find you can accept this and nothing changes in your life, beware.
I got sick of being told I'm going to hell.

I already work for god. His guiding light shows me the true path of life. I do his bidding for the betterment of mankind and self.
God is not an asshole.
But his followers can be.
