Military high command since the end of the nineteenth century has been largely a political position, meaning you get the same caliber talent pool as politicians--sociopathic narcissistic fuckfaces.

Not true. You get I believe 30 mins unsupervised time which is basically for your bathroom breaks outside of the 2 mandatory breaks one being lunch. What's fucked is the first break starts when you clock out from the station which is a very long walk to the break room and they don't like people sitting at their stations. Drivers probably had to deal with no piss breaks because those dudes tear it up through my neighborhood in those vans. It's a job for strong mother fuckers who can deal with pain. Not for me. You earn every dollar they dangle in front of you but some fools are made of steel and get told to go the fuck home because they've taken too much optional overtime already.
I have a friend who worked At one for a week and a half or so. They were “recruited” for a previous distribution center work another time we’re looking for a job so they took it. They said there was no way it was possible to meet some of the time standards Amazon had.
For example, they were questioned why they took an extra 10 minutes to unload a trailer, and their boss didn’t wanna hear the excuse that whoever loaded it did a horrible job wrapping pallets and they had to re-stack 2 1/2 pallets before they could be unloaded as they had collapsed in the trailer.
Thats not a thing in the warehouses. It IS a thing for the massive network of independent contractor companies called DSPs (Delivery Service Partners) who employ drivers to deliver the amazon packages the last mile to the customers. Its not a forced thing, and any DSP I have ever heard of is vocally AGAINST its drivers pissing in bottles, but for a lot of people the package volume is so high that if you take the 15 minutes it would take to leave your route and find a bathroom and use it, it would end up putting you past your end time resulting in getting in trouble with your DSP and possibly losing work hours on future schedules.
The real problem though is the fact that so many DSPs pay for the full day instead of hours worked which incentivizes the drivers to finish as early as possible so that they can feel like they are making more than the base 15 an hour. So they run from the van to the door all day, risking injury constantly to finish a few hours early. Amazon sees that they finished their route 3 hours early and says "Hey, I guess Josh is so good at this job he can deliver 60 more stops a day." and over time starts reducing total routes and giving more stops each to John, Josh, and Sue instead which leads to those 3 feeling like they have no choice but to piss in a bottle to finish on time, and destroy their health in order to finish at all.
