The chink flu was really the ultimate wrench they threw into the machine. At heart, Trump is a good guy and doesn't want to see people get hurt or die. So he had to make decisions with all this conflicting information coming in about COVID, and unfortunately got caught up in the narrative instead of just addressing the American public and telling them "it's a mild respiratory illness, stop whining, go back to work."
Not sure why you have down votes. This is dead on. Trump didn't want to have advisers tell him "millions will DIE", then risk millions dying, and going down as the worst president in modern history.
It was all a sham. We didn't know this from the first few weeks. We learned very quickly when we saw the estimations be off by 99%
When corona first hit, it's not that I trusted or believed the figures, but I played it safe. After the first month I knew we had been had.
I stopped sanitizing and such, because I knew it was unhealthy. I switched quickly to soap and water, and 6+ months ago, stopped doing that unless I'm using my hands to eat or touched something gross, like gas pumps.
Point is, I think Trump was a hit scared, as many were.

I think I was right over the target and attracted shills. Nobody knew how deadly this virus would be, mainly because of CCP propaganda showing people just falling dead in the streets early in 2020 (which is easily faked). But the Dems and their operatives did legitimately kill a lot of people in the US primarily by sending COVID-positive patients to nursing homes in a few select states like NY, PA, MA, MI, and others. That created the plausible "first wave" that justified stripping our basic Constitutional rights like freedom of travel, freedom of assembly, freedom of worship, etc.

Something I noticed is that Trump seemed to turn around on the COVID-1984 subject after he himself caught it. It's like whatever fear he had on it was gone.
During the summer, he struck me as one of the true-believer crowd, to a point. He believed it was manageable. But seemed to put more weight on it than was necessary.
Catching it himself was the proof he needed.
The China virus was a perfectly planned wrench. He was stuck between a rock and a hard place. In fact, only Sweden had the balls to do the normal correct thing.
Had Hillary been POTUS as intended, the China virus would have been a pretext to permanently remove all our civil liberties. Since Trump was in office, they had to do it via patchwork with Dem/RINO governors and city councils

Making an experimental vaccine available is completely separate from the task of fully assessing the efficacy and safety of that vaccine, just as measures to make experimental treatments available to terminal patients certainly isn’t the same as rolling them out for everyone, much less forcing people to take them!
And there are other factors to consider:
With a vaccine in hand, further lockdowns are hard to justify— the left clearly wanted to leverage their emergency powers indefinitely into the future. And the lockdowns were an immediate health crisis and existential risk to national security.
A faster vaccine deployment limited the fuckery that the pharmaceutical snakes could engineer into it, and potentially exposes side effects faster, before everyone has been ‘marked by the beast’.
Clearing out a pathway to accomplish a task is not the same as doing the task correctly. Trump didn’t design the vaccine itself, and has no way of independently checking the expert’s claims. And he continually stressed therapeutic remedies as an alternative to vaccination. The tow truck driver isn’t responsible for the mechanic’s shitty work.
You can make a good case that Trump should have ‘forced’ the economy to open and declared mask mandates a civil rights violation. Barr’s rhetoric shows there was some discussion of doing this, but of course those bagpipes needed blowing! Trump’s legal pathway to accomplish this was unclear and he was probably advised that it would only extend the shutdowns if he tried.
Ultimately a populist President tries to deliver what the people demand — and people demanded a vaccine. That this was hysteria driven by a treasonous media’s lies is true, but that changes little. Trump tried to get opening by Easter, tried to deliver the therapeutic “magic pill” AND he clearly told us the media was an enemy of the people, but the sheeple spit all that back up like a dog’s medicine and made ‘vaccine availability’ the only win condition. So he delivered.
NGL I'm tired of the same old dog and pony show with Trump. He can't seem to stop talking about what he's done, and that is blinding him from identifying the enemy and devising ways to stop them.
