The chink flu was really the ultimate wrench they threw into the machine. At heart, Trump is a good guy and doesn't want to see people get hurt or die. So he had to make decisions with all this conflicting information coming in about COVID, and unfortunately got caught up in the narrative instead of just addressing the American public and telling them "it's a mild respiratory illness, stop whining, go back to work."
Not sure why you have down votes. This is dead on. Trump didn't want to have advisers tell him "millions will DIE", then risk millions dying, and going down as the worst president in modern history.
It was all a sham. We didn't know this from the first few weeks. We learned very quickly when we saw the estimations be off by 99%
When corona first hit, it's not that I trusted or believed the figures, but I played it safe. After the first month I knew we had been had.
I stopped sanitizing and such, because I knew it was unhealthy. I switched quickly to soap and water, and 6+ months ago, stopped doing that unless I'm using my hands to eat or touched something gross, like gas pumps.
Point is, I think Trump was a hit scared, as many were.

I think I was right over the target and attracted shills. Nobody knew how deadly this virus would be, mainly because of CCP propaganda showing people just falling dead in the streets early in 2020 (which is easily faked). But the Dems and their operatives did legitimately kill a lot of people in the US primarily by sending COVID-positive patients to nursing homes in a few select states like NY, PA, MA, MI, and others. That created the plausible "first wave" that justified stripping our basic Constitutional rights like freedom of travel, freedom of assembly, freedom of worship, etc.
