The Bible is even older (About 1600 years IIRC?), the Jewish parts (Old Testament) are older still, and those aren't the only texts in the world to spell out a pretty solid list of activities to avoid (and why), they aren't even the oldest.
Basically humanity as a whole is bright enough to know what not to do, but ultimately not smart enough yet to actually avoid the dumb stuff that we know wrecks society, ultimately too lazy as a society keep it in check and too unwilling to act on our own which is where somebody who will act (Like, HITLER) takes control.
The question being will we make it to the point where we're bright and vigilant enough to keep these things from becoming problems, or will we never break the cycle of losing society to barbarism because of apathy? (Philosophers have asked this for thousands of years too)
Well they were freed from the slavery in Egypt and when things got to hard they said they had it better in Egypt and wanted to go back (to the food and comfort even among their own slavery)
I'm afraid it will be the same here. As long as people are kept pacified with entertainments and being able to shop....
I don't know if it will be in our lifetime or not but in the future there will be a one world government
