When people flame you on the internet, 99% of the time they are lashing out because they are just taking shit in the real world and not standing up for themselves.
Its definitely subconcious, but you dont see happy people looking for fights online. Or successful people, you cant even imagine Elon Musk calling people names in the youtube comments.
If someone responds to you/your opinion online in a toxic way, ignore the toxicity and focus on the actual opinion. Easier said than done at first but I barely even notice it anymore.
People get henpecked by their wives, or have shitty bosses at jobs they cant quit and that shit comes out. Just let them vent.
We will have bad days and end up snarky in our responses too, the bible verse about “forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us” comes to mind. We don’t need to buy into all of christianity to benefit from the wisdom in the bible.
