mother. However, I look for this to change eventually as some blue state (probably California) will have a judge who sees things differently. What sane person would think a seven-year-old knows what he/she wants? Plus, I can see some far left, crazy liberal judge ruling in favor of a child who wants to “divorce” his parents so he/she could make an asinine decision like this. (Remember years ago when a kid tried to divorce his parents?)

Here's expert's thoughts on the issue: a genetic aberration other than male or female usually has a child complaining of misgender issues beginning age 2 - 4, and persisting. So this isn't a case of them "not knowing what they want."
The ethical question is, how do you deal with it? AFAIK experts are all over the map on this, and ethics don't seem to play a role. Nothing much helps, as the suicide rate is 41% but that includes everybody. The drastic increase in people claiming this means we don't have data for most of the situations, so "experts" have nothing to go by and do whatever they want.
The genetic aberration probably hasn't changed, but we don't even know that. What's a Judge supposed to go by? Common sense? That has no standing ....
Well I respect your opinion but disagree that being transgender is genetic. It is spoken of so much, and young children pick up on everything. I absolutely believe it is power of suggestion. Of course, it also goes against my religious beliefs.
You're missing the point. What % of the population actually has this genetic aberration? While I don't have it off the top of my head, it's TINY.
"The drastic increase in people claiming this" suggests that most claiming to be trans do NOT have this, but something else is going on. This has only happened since SSM was legalized. It's beyond obvious in our culture and especially kids in HS and younger that this stems from the desire to be accepted, and peer pressure has changed such that anyone claiming any form of LGBTQ is granted special acceptance.
The question here is what will Courts do? My point is so-called "experts" don't have current data to explain the drastic increase, so what are Judges going to go by? Hopefully they will go by evidence presented in each case, and use good judgment. We haven't seen much of that out of our Courts. We can't expect Congress to do anything sensible.
Again, State legislatures are really our only hope. And while we should bombard them, addressing one issue at a time may be best. Where does this issue stand in our order of priorities? And how can we word it to be effective? I think it's important to frame this as not infringing on "trans rights," but protecting children; and this is true.
The outrage of our military funding surgery for anyone 18+ in their ranks is a perversion I see no present solution for. These people are not magically capable of figuring out how to resolve whatever they're experiencing just because they recently turned 18. Any funding they receive is special rights, not equal rights.
Are you referring to hermaphroditism? If so I see your point.
