I'm not saying it was the only cause, but it was, imo, a significant push that propelled Canada further left than the US for a couple of decades to follow. The gap now though, is much narrower than a lot want to admit.
I don't think so. Turdeau Sr.'s push to undermine whatever national identity existed through multikulti, diversifying immigration, introducing hate speech laws are what pushed Canadia to the left. Plus he was pretty heavy-handed in his treatment of the FLQ by invoking the war measures act, so we have legal precedent for the current leftist authoritarianism.
You should read up on the revolutionary Marxist community in Montreal. They've been there far longer than the 60s.
