The app is just a stepping stone to a chip. Sounds like fantasy right? Unfortunately not. They are actively rolling out a way to scan your biometrics with a physical implant. Look it up. They are no longer shy about it.

The physical implant could be the chip pets get, about the size of a grain of rice. Everything else is back end database tied to the unique ID in the chip. It's not like you need a lot of data storage on the implant, that's what networks and cloud databases are for.
You may be a bit behind on the current technology we have achieved interns of micro computing and nano technology. I’m sure they have microscopic implants that can send data to a scanner. It’s possible that some have them without even knowing.
Remember. The technology they have is far beyond what is known or available to the consumer.
