Okay so there’s actually a few different types of vaccine and only two of them actually contain whole viruses, these are the live/attenuated and Killed/inactive types. The smallpox and MMR vaccines are an example of the first, while polio and hepatitis a vaccines are an example of the second.

Our bodies then identify this new protein as a invader and start practicing its immune response which will allow them to destroy any future contact with the COVID virus.
Once the mRNA has been read it’s destroyed by the cell after never even making it to the nucleus(where the DNA is stored). Gene therapy uses similar tactics with the ultimate goal of introducing, removing, or changing your genetic information (DNA & RNA). This cannot be accomplished by mRNA or mRNA vaccines.
