I don't think that's the problem. The problem is, even if a patriot does stand up and start stacking bodies, the "conservatives" will instantly turn against him. Trump will condemn him. He will lose all his friends and family. He will either die a "terrorist" and be forgotten or be imprisoned until he dies alone.
There are people out there willing to take lives for this fight, but they will not be the heroes that they expect or that we claim they will.

And for those who think the legal system is totally useless, may I refer you to recent stories about the DOJ having to plead down to trespassing charges for the 1/6 "insurrectionists"? Even the crooked political DOJ operatives couldn't prove their case, which means there is some semblance of a legal process remaining.

If it's the States who stand up, that gives it the trappings of legality and it changes the whole conversation.
