I guess that's why I'm seeing so many self checkouts now.

Scan and go is starting to be promoted as well. Where you just scan your stuff as you shop.

Which reminds me of this futuristic look from many years ago of what is now known as Amazon Go stores. No cashier is needed just take what you want and exit. The store knows what you took and charges you.
