So what’s confusing to me was trump was sued and he lost, regarding the 1st amendment. A group of Twitter users blocked by Donald Trump sued the President for violating their first amendment rights in Knight First Amendment Institute v. Trump, and won a declaratory judgment in May 2018. So if he wasn’t able to block users based on their first amendment rights, how can Twitter, Facebook and Instagram block a user from posting their content without it being a 1A violation. I’m confused
They like to pretend that it’s just with public figures because they’re easier to notice...meanwhile someone like James Charles, for example, is trending on Twitter again after he once again sent some weird snapchat messages to yet another underage boy while again saying that the kid lied about his age.
Okay, so that’s a public figure, who is very publicly known as being a pedo, but he’s also liberal and very gay. You can’t criticize the liberals or the gays, so Twitter/YouTube/Snapchat just let him do his makeup and message younger boys.
Why? Maybe because somehow he’s some sort of “gay icon” (even though the gays don’t like him either) so criticizing him would look homophobic or something. But I’m sure he’s also selling some cp to some powerful people, who knows.
This is just an example. The rules on these companies only really apply if you’re someone that the companies themselves don’t like.
