The more difficult aspects are things like messengers where it's not just about wanting to use something different, but getting everyone you know to also get on it. Then there are other things like email, maps, photos, calendars, and all that stuff where Google, Apples, and Microsoft offer all in one suites whereas you have to cherry pick all sorts of different providers to get something even remotely close. Gab, even though it's geared to what we want, can be quite sluggish to load up pages. Any new tech needs to fix this or they can't compete. No one likes using a slow computer.
