He’s not a true never Trumper. He was very annoying about Trump in 2016. He basically argued that Trump would dismantle the conservative movement. He trusted the polls and thought that Trump was going to lose, and he thought not voting for Trump would help him get out ahead and lead conservatives in the post 2016 era.

When Trump became president, he was supportive of almost everything Trump did policy wise. However, he would often focus on how Trump presented himself. He was obsessed with Trumps tweets and would constantly say that Trump should get rid of Twitter. I don’t think Ben ever really understood what made Trump appealing to middle America.

In 2020 Ben voted for Trump. So good for him for admitting that Trump was actually quite good in terms of policy. But it was one of those things where it was like, “why did it take you so long to realize Trump wasn’t being 100% serious in everything he says on Twitter?”
