I said this when the vaccines were first announced. If you actually look at the data, you'll realize that the "effectiveness" of the vaccine is actually inline with just normal effectiveness of our immune systems.
They're saying for old people, it's safer to have had the vaccine but the reality is we don't know the true number of old people who've been infected with covid-19 and any data we have is likely under reported in total cases and over reported in fatalities due to covid-19. When you adjust for the variance in the data, you'll end up with numbers that effectively indicate that the vaccine is no better than our normal immune systems.
Now, I could be wrong and the vaccine could be better but we actually don't have any data that absolutely tells us that.
