Sorry retards but the Natives (who actually weren't) were so backward they'd still be fighting each other in loin cloths if whitey hadn't fixed up America for their useless asses. Anyone who thinks (coughs loudly) Native's have contributed to the cultural canon of America is a smooth brained low IQ dolt...

This.

I'm so sick and tired of the Noble Savage myths. All that stems from Dickens London as romanticized novels, has no basis in reality.

strictly1957 50 points ago +55 / -5

They were savages in every metric. Raping. Looting. Enslaving. Fine folks, folks? Hahahahahaha.

You’ve just described the modern day democrats.

RegularAmerican 19 points ago +19 / -0

Right? I wonder if half the natives were sane and rational outvoiced by a radical minority with all the authority of their nation calling themselves "the resistance".

Who are still manipulating and pandering to another group of perpetual welfare recipients they've created.

Sounds like African tribes in Africa.

If it weren't for white western civilization, everybody else would still be chasing their food.

What about Wakanda?

Thank you Sir for the timely truth bomb... a lot of low IQ retards drank the diversity kool aid and try to delude themselves about history. Without Whitey, America and Europe would not be Mighty!

17
BuzzBuzzard 17 points ago +18 / -1

It really depended on the tribe, some were peaceful, some were not, some were cannibals, it really depended. Albiet most go into the peaceful camp. Also note the great (albiet barbaric) civilizations of the Incas and the Mayans. Also the reason the natives didn't have any decent technology was because unlike European and Asiatic peoples, they didn't ave access to horses or other animals that could be domesticated.

CanadianPede2 1 point ago +1 / -0

Agreed. There was a lot of heterogeneity among the First Nations. The Noble Savage is a myth but the extreme opposite is also a myth.

AnointedVisions 7 points ago +8 / -1

Personally I think all humans are savages, we just have iphones and tesla cars now

Savagery is needed. Like a wolf's teeth or a lion's claws. Savagery is man's teeth.

NomadicKrow2 6 points ago +6 / -0

They had some semblance of honor, but it's mainly reserved for their particular tribe. In contact contact other tribes, they would backstab, betray, and generally shit on people that weren't like them. They tried to do it with the European. Didn't turn out so well. The natives that hate the reservations only need to thank their ancestors.

The Apache were particularly savage. Texans exterminated them because they survived purely on raiding, and that meant raping and pillaging in the frontier.

MadMaxUSMC 3 points ago +3 / -0

Noble Savages that do stuff like tie prisons down to Ant hills with their eyelids sliced off?

3
westrock2000 3 points ago +3 / -0

They were so close to having the wheel, metal working, cities, farming, domesticating animals, horses, roads. So close.....probably just several hundred years away had they not been interrupted.

4
Meddlesom 4 points ago +4 / -0

They almost tamed horses, BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT... decided to eat them to extinction 10,000 years ago instead.

37
lostremote- 37 points ago +39 / -2

When Europeans came along they hadn’t even gotten as far using wheels yet. We did them a favor.

41
MrStep 41 points ago +41 / -0

No bronze, let alone iron - literally Stone Age. No written languages. No wheel. No cartography.

Wars. Human sacrifice. Slavery. Scalping.

Noble no, savages sure thing.

12
GabeC1997 12 points ago +12 / -0

No, some tribes did have copper, but it was basically their version of gold.

4
NADSAQ 4 points ago +4 / -0

“noble savages” is a derisive ironic term, just FYI, not to be taken literally

3
DarkDrai 3 points ago +3 / -0

I was under the impression that there were actually libraries in Mayan cities that were burned down by the spanish conquistadors, so we actually have no real idea what technologies and written languages they might have had. In fact, they hid how advanced the Mayans really were when writing back to Spain, etc. because they wanted to paint them as savages to conquer and gentrify. (Human sacrifice really didn't help their case, though.)

I have a theory that civilizations have been doing this kind of thing to each other far longer than recorded history, but we don't know because we keep burning the historical records.

Red37 12 points ago +14 / -2

They didn’t have any beast of burden to pull wheels. Horses were brought by Europeans. In fact, in America there were no large animals to domesticate. The closest animal to a cow would be the American Buffalo, and if you aren’t familiar with them they can’t be domesticated, even today. They have to be contained separate of any other animals because they will kill cows, horses, and anything else in the same pen.

I watched a really interesting video on YouTube once that used Buffalo as the reason why the indigenous populations of North America didn’t have diseases to effect Europeans. Basically because you can’t domesticate Buffalo you didn’t have a source of cattle to supply cities, because you couldn’t have large gatherings of people you didn’t have large outbreaks of deadly disease followed by the development of herd immunity.

4
Master_Wyatt_Gurp 4 points ago +4 / -0

They could still have invented the wheel, it didn't take domestication of animals to propagate that invention. The immunities yes, invention? No. Of course the whole thing is esoteric because it's a matter of what could have occurred, instead of just focusing on what did or did not.

They simply never developed that far, at least not the roaming tribes.

1
CanadianPede2 1 point ago +1 / -0

They did have the wheel. For example, archaeologists found wheel and axle in children's toys, but many nations did not bother implementing it for trade, etc. This is because they had no beasts of burden that were amenable to domestication to pull carts. In some locals, the terrain was too forested and rocky to justify the use of carts, and in other cases, all commercial/transport needs were already satisfied by canoe.

2
MR_ROBOT1776 2 points ago +2 / -0

I highly doubt the wheel was invented as an aid to use with beasts. I'm not sure which would have came first but I do know the wheel would have been beneficial with or without a beast pulling it. It can be used for gears, ship anchors, grindstones, wheelbarrows, cooking, pottery, etc.

Inventing it specifically so an animal could pull it seems like a huge leap. It's sort of like inventing fire specifically so you can cook with it. Seems more reasonable to invent fire for the use of staying warm, then cooking, then other things like igniting gunpowder and to use as a light source.

You can’t domesticate an American Buffalo because they are large, strong, angry murder bastards.

5
Kylsix 5 points ago +5 / -0

There are some examples of domesticated bison. For the most part, though, they are way too aggressive to have any use outside of food. They can't pull carts, they won't allow you to milk them, and you sure as shit can't ride them.

FACTS!!!!

3
NomadicKrow2 3 points ago +3 / -0

The claim is they didn't need the wheel, knew what it was, but it did them no good. I call bullshit because they were mostly nomadic. Wheels are hot shit when you're on the move.

Nearly everything about “native culture” was created by white man. Europeans brought them horses and beads. White men created what we think of when we think “native music”. White men reinvented their teepee into the white canvas shits we see now. Native culture is a romanticized invention of white men.

9
KeeptheChief 9 points ago +9 / -0

Europeans brought horses to the Americas. The Plains Indians got them from the Spanish.

3
NomadicKrow2 3 points ago +3 / -0

It's almost like "becoming civilized" happens when a culture makes contact with Europeans.

UnitedStatesofSmash 18 points ago +18 / -0

100% I say this without an ounce of hate in my body, but the fact is that had it not been for the English (aka white people) settling, befriending, and fighting the natives, America as we know it would not exist. Dunno about anyone else, but I love America, faults and all.

11
strictly1957 11 points ago +13 / -2

Your British brother Pede (little old me) salutes every word you just posted. Damn skippy (as you guys say) the white English in particular brought untold invention and a Magna Carta that formed the Founders Constitution. And like you I will never give up on Uncle Sam. It'll be a cold day in hell before that happens baby.

Deus Vult!!!

Thanks for Roger's Rangers. Those dudes were cool as shit and perfected raiding tactics learned from the Indians. We got tomahawks with metal heads because of them.

5
BadManOrange 5 points ago +5 / -0

The Spanish (and in Brazil the Portuguese) also did a lot to civilize them in Central/South America.

-6
freebass -6 points ago +2 / -8

More like enslave them. Back then, they were enslaved by the Spanish and Portuguese. Today they are enslaved by the Roman Catholic Cult which, incidentally, was also a product of Spanish and Portuguese imperialism.

Look at every Central and South American country. What is the dominant religion? You guessed it, Catholic Cult. That, combined with a bankrupt culture, is why every one of those countries are shit holes and their people are fleeing en masse (only to bring their bullshit "culture" and cult with them of course).

Yeah, we wouldn't have this horribly racist country that everyone in the world seems to want to immigrate into. Amazing isn't it? We need to stop apologizing. They don't apologize in other countries well except Japan, under extreme pressure and then it's a big deal.

All cutting and pasting the same low IQ BS. Its hard for their smooth brains to cope with the fact that White Europeans built America from the ground up. Gender studies is more their thing Fren!

2
honk_honk_honk 2 points ago +2 / -0

To be fair it's a drain on them too, the moment one has any form of success their relatives all chime in to steal it. Coupled with govt handouts there's no incentive for them to go forth and prosper.
