OK I agree with you of course but you're making a mistake.
You can't walk into a forum and say will everybody please (do or stop doing ) X because the answer is going to be "no", no matter how just or reasonable your request is (yours is of course both).
Why is that the case? Because we're not a real "we". That's because this is a public forum where just anyone can show up and type just anything. There is no consensus and there is no way of forming one. There are things most people believe but really, we have no way of discerning those from any individual comment thread.
There is the Streisand Effect however and you just summoned it forth, more or less.
"We"-type requests belong solely to small, non-public groups of individuals, frens in the local venecular , engaging each other in a repeating game- i.e. we all see each other gain and again. This is not that.
Other than that special cirumstance, only some authority with the power to inflict punishment can issue such requests with any hope they'll be honored.
The fact is there are enough trolls here- people who delight in staking out extreme positions delivered in brown paper and wrapped in last week's fish - that shit as bad as raw anti-semitism can get a couple hundred votes, which is pretty high. Go Hitler !
In no way should such shit be taken as representative of the sentiment here. There is no unified sentiment here, but more to the point, after a couple hundred haters their gun is pretty much empty, and a lot of that is one person with many alts.
People bashing you here (I haven't actually read any of them I just get what's about to happen) represent nothing, especially they don't represent any general sentiment, which as you might expect, is most likely totally with you because your request is not extreme and most people aren't extreme, by definition of extreme.
Don't require this of forums and you won't be disappointed.
The best counter is what you see on Twitter when people get "demolished". This forum also supports long form argumentation, which makes most people's eyes glaze over.
If people post obnoxious things, it's up to you to use your creativty and intelligence to make them look like fools. That's how minds are changed and opinions are formed and political orientations are solidified. That's our weapon. We make arguments that are cogent, insightful and pithy. Those kinds of posts get carried into battle and win hearts and minds which is the territory we want to take.
