It would have worked much better if everyone had sat down, and refused to leave. The optics made it look chaotic, because people busted in, walked around for a few minutes, and then left.

If they would have just sat down, then there would be a bunch of videos of people nonviolently protesting a fraudulent election, by peacefully sitting in a federal building, that they've paid for. The "news" would show up, and there would be thousands of Patriots, sitting in the Capitol building, singing the national anthem, asking for states to audit their election results.
