But I feel like this wouldn't even be hard to make, and there's definitely many people who use alternative sites, so it would be worth it just for the people who follow them. That's enough people on its own.

"Back in the day" there were programs that you could use like that. Even now you can use RSS ... something GREAT but made irelevant by masses of imbeciles that flooded the internet ... and you ca add that RSS feed of a Youtube chanel for example to your simple rss reader and VOILA you have the service you want.

but like i said ... people were "happy" with what youtube offered so the "alternatives" were slowly abandoned.

This is a great point. I don't think people really understood RSS, and it looked kind of rough. People need something userfriendly. They're dumb and lazy, lol. But if you had this service, and you paid some select content creators to advertise it, "Follow me on Notifier". You could do it with people who move to Bitchute for instance. And they'd be likely to jump on board. Explain to people in communities like this how it breaks the monopoly, and then we can spread it by word of mouth. And once that monopoly is broken, slowly more and more they will have to make good products again, otherwise people will move to alternatives.

You might be completely correct ... considering something like idiotic patreon exists.
