From the Convention of States Action newsletter:

VICTORY! Moments ago, the North Carolina Judiciary 4 Committee voted in favor of the COS resolution. This is an important victory that means our legislation will move on to the Rules Committee for a vote, then on to the House floor.

It takes 34 states to call the convention, will North Carolina be sweet sixteen?

From your lips to God's ears.

I've been beating the drum for repeal of the 17th forever (16th too). That power grab in 1913 was the seminal moment.

Imagine this: California's Constitution used to have the State Senate have 1 senator per county. But they managed to make it population based, just like the House, removing a big check and balance. If that hadn't been done, California, and the nation's, politics would be very much different. They followed the model of the 17th for a power grab.
