I hate facebook for this reason. High school reunion came around and one of my former friends I still kinda keep in touch with was like "Oh she's <this.name> now and living in Australia!" I got a heap of friend requests after and took great pleasure in declining all of them. We may've been friends in high school (mostly not), but not enough to actually keep in touch, we aren't going to be friends now.
I think the only thing I’m going to be “on” is texting and calling actual real life friends.

No kidding. Like my last birthday I didn’t have any social media apps on my phone.
