Did you even read the proposed changes? Or just what someone else said about them. Lot of people are desperate to believe anything as long as it lines up with their opinion.
Clean up wording so the kids don't have to re-prove their gender of birth every year they play the sport. Clean up language that would prevent liability lawsuits regarding performance enhancements.
Remove language including through college as to not fuck over South Dakota college athletics, since the most likely results was the NCAA banning SD colleges from competing.
Her suggestion for section one changed definitions. “A team or sport designated as being female is available only to participants who are female, based on their biological sex, as reflected on the birth certificate or affidavit provided upon initial enrollment…”. Just keep in mind, anyone who files the proper paperwork in the state can change this. Including changing your gender. That doesn't sound like an improvement to me. The scrapping of the paperwork is interesting. It seems like the most straightforward enforcement method, but does seem like a lot of paperwork. Between that and running away from the ncaa, I'm not sure how this is a win. Generally style and form vetos are for typos and poorly grammatically written sentences, not to radically change the bill this way. At least you did read about it, plenty of people are just like well she asked lawyers they must be right.
It could be worse but I don't believe this will accomplish what they set out to do, and I think the left will sue anyway. It's what they do.
My biggest issue is cancel culture here quickly attacked her, labeled her a RINO, never to be heard from again. She saw issue with the language that would lead to the bill being cancelled in a court of law relatively quickly, said fix it, the legislature said NO, so now she has done an EO.
So is she fucking a Mitt Romney now?? Of course not. I just don't understand why so many here were quickly damning her to the wastebin of RINOs.
Money matters, so while we can beat the hammer about the NCAA what about just fighting the fights we can win easily, and with little recourse. Protect the children first, then we can protect the young adults because in college that is what you are, legally.
Because the shitty legislature wouldn't fix some wording? Guess she is Mitt Romney then.
