"I heard about the fucking Whammy Burger! It was just a bunch of n-slurs, wasn't it? On TV, it's always nice-looking White kids. But when you go in there, it's nothing but a bunch of fucking n-slurs!" - the nazi guy from Falling Down.
Also, the "Whammy Burger" in the movie was actually the Fatburger store in Watts.
Loved that flic. The scene that truly hooked me was the convenience store. It didn’t just make sense, it burrowed into my mind. When he asked for the price of the aspirin it was something I knew the cost of even as a young child and felt ripped off in that moment. It’s like I was right there with him, cheering him on it all down.
The breaking jar of novelty American flags was symbolism that I missed as a kid, but for whatever reason I seemed to realize the maxi-pads were strategically placed as advertising.
The main thing I got from this film that shook-me-to-the-core (!) was the contrast between the Douglas and Duval characters... Duval had way more reason to be bitter at life than Douglas but he held on and saved the little girl and stupid wife and was able to say to that bastard-cop "Fuck you. Fuck you very much".
Ever notice that, in the movie, he encounters a person, disarms them and then takes the first person's weapon into the next scene, whereupon he disarms another person and takes HIS weapon into the third, and so forth . . . all the while escalating in deadly force?
We’ve always been poor white trailer trash growing up between the wealthy and poor large black and Hispanic populations. It was obvious in the 90s we were getting the shaft. My brothers, despite high test scores and GPAs didn’t get into top tier universities because they were white and poor. They were denied scholarships because even they were poor they were white males. This has been going on for a hot minute.
No, he wasn’t a psychopath. He was a regular man who had been pushed to his limit by the burgeoning perils of divorce, job loss, immigration, violence and high expectations.
He cared about his family, his country and his job, but simply cracked under the pressure from those issues piling up. In the end, he chose suicide by cop and instead of actually shooting someone he used the water gun. That’s not a psychopath.
Yes, he had begun to lose his marbles before the scene was set, that’s not in question. What is important to note is he was a loving and caring family man with a good job. There was no backstory of psychotic behavior, such as causing harm to animals, beating on people or finding pleasure in harm. He had emotions and trouble resolving them due to the circumstances with his home and professional life. Everything else after that was the storyline of his fall from grace. “Falling down.”
All I wanted was to be left alone.
All based Oregon Patriot wanted was for antifa to get away from him.
I’m an American. Your a sick asshole

"Look, it's empty! It was used!"
The guy was seriously deranged.
Low key one of my favs, the neo nazi "what..the fuck is this" scene is the best 😂
Agreed. That scene was priceless. What’s this doing in here? FAGGOT shit!
Iron Maiden "Man On The Edge" (They couldn't call it "Falling Down") https://youtu.be/-GRh0Boilm4?list=TLPQMzEwMzIwMjGW0r0RLjnFRw
Did not like the "spouse/child abuser" angle at the end. Otherwise a very impactful movie.
Right? Feels tacked on like the studio said “we love your screenplay and we’re gonna run with it but uh... we can’t have him be ‘the good guy’”
Great movie. I'm gonna watch again.

I feel like they made a 80 min perfect based movie and SPOILER spoiled the end with his backstory to get it published.
i agree
Same with Vlad the Impaler. As a child he was a villain. As an adult I know he was a savior.
Underrated comment.

I got it back then, too.
A Classic
"I'm the bad guy?...

Same. That scene in the park with the thugs, I felt that.
Watch god bless America next

I just wanted breakfast!
Saw it as a kid - got it as a kid 😂

Maybe you should rewatch it lol. Dude was kind of a psychopathic turd tbh
actually, not "kind of" at all really, pretty much fully.

The Director Joel Schumucker of Falling Down slept with over 20k men starting at the age of 9
gag me with a fork plz
Like, oh my God, barf me out to the max. Y'know? Like, grody TMI.
Age of 9. So he was abused as a child like the majority of gays are.
Well how else would they recruit??
A lot of neo cons bought the lie that they were born that way.
